Fall Group Fitness Launch
September 30
The next launch for group fitness classes will be held on Sunday, September 30. The Fall launch will be a morning only launch, except for the 3:30pm BodyFlow™.
The schedule is as follows: 7:00am Freestyle Cycle, 8:30am BodyStep™ , 9:30am BodyPump™, 10:30am CXWORX™, 11:15am RPM™, 3:30pm BodyFlow™.
The rest of the afternoon will be normal Sunday afternoon schedule. The instructors WILL be doing the new releases during afternoon classes.
Non-members are welcome. Bring a photo ID and sign in at the fitness desk.
10th Annual Friedman Family Foundation LJCC Jewish Food Festival
October 28 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Free and open to the community
The LJCC will be hosting the 10th annual Jewish Food Festival on October 28. Traditional Jewish foods cooked in-house will be available in a fun family atmosphere. The menu includes: brisket, noodle kugel, corned beef, stuffed cabbage, falafel sandwiches, matzo ball soup, hummus, black and white cookies,hamentashen and Dr. Brown's soda. There will also be live music by the Klezmer Kings. Adding to the family atmosphere, the N.E. Miles Jewish Day School on our campus will be having its Go Green Family Fair with lots of crafts/activities.

School’s Out But the J’s In Day
October 15 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Grades K - 4
The LJCC offers a full day of activities when the schools are closed for teacher workshops or holidays. Each day is structured similar to summer camps -- full of a variety of activities such as cooking, hiking, crafts, games, sports, and swimming (Non-swimmers will do another activity). Bring a morning snack, lunch, swimsuit and a towel. Wear t-shirts to avoid overheating during physical activites and appropriate shoes for active play and sports. Bring jackets or coats as needed for outside play. We provide the afternoon snack. The game room remains open from 8 am – 6 pm for extended hours as an amenity for working parents.
Fee: $25/day for members; $35/day for non-members
Before and After care: 8 am - 6 pm (members free/ Non-members $5)
4th Annual Mah Jongg Tournament to Benefit The Circle of Life Knitting Society
Wednesday, October 17
10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Fee: $30
The Mah Jongg tournament will run from 10 am - 3 pm with registration beginning at 9:30 am. The cost is $30 which includes a delicious lunch from Gloria's Kosher Kitchen and prizes. All levels of players are welcome to attend and it is open to the entire community. Proceeds from this tournament will benefit the Circle of Life Knitting Society to purchase yarn and other supplies to help them continue their valuable work.
The Circle of Life Society teaches knitting to all levels from beginners to Mavens and meets every Tuesday at the LJCC from 10 am - noon. They knit scarves for those women and men in our community whose lives have been touched by cancer. These scarves will be a constant reminder that their community is surrounding them with love, warmth and hope.
October is breast cancer awareness month and they will proudly deliver about 225 scarves to the Kirklin Clinic and UAB’s Comprehensive Cancer Center.
