BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC)- Cooper Green Mercy Hospital's CEO is not going away without a fight.
Last week Jefferson County placed Dr. Sandral Hullet on administrative leave as the hospital is in the process ending in-patient care at the county hospital for the poor and uninsured.
She was among 200 hospital workers laid off. Late this afternoon, her attorney U.W. Clemon appealed the county's action.
"If action of the kind envisioned by the county manager were necessary, then they should have been processed under the reduction in force policy rather than the administrative leave policy. We expect to show that the action is motivated by the race of Dr. Hullet and by her age," Clemon said.
Jefferson County Manager Tony Petelos tells FOX6 News "everything we did was according to the Jefferson County personnel board rules and the laws of the state of Alabama."
